A friend posted about a trip she was taking and her concern over people judging her for her cough from Chronic Lung Disease. She said she wished she had a shirt to let them know she’s not contagious. I jokingly commented I’ll make you a shirt. She was ecstatic. I threw some graphics together and sent her a Facebook message. Without me knowing, she shared in her support group and all of a sudden, I’m getting people from all over the world requesting her shirt. As someone who has more rare invisible illnesses that months in the year, I realized, this may be a way than we can spread the word about invisible illness in a chronically, positively, fabulous way.
