Inspired by performing in “The Vagina Monologues” and “Loss, Love, and What I Wore,” this summer, founder Deb Kelley reached out to the community for men’s and women’s monologues on breasts for a full-length play “Breast Advice.” With over 20 incredible submissions, “Breast Advice” will be workshopped as a staged reading on December 7, 2019 at 8pm at Powerstories Theatre with a portion of the ticket sales donated to The Affirmation Project.
Deb Kelley received the Theatre Tampa Bay JEFF NORTON DREAM GRANT to put on an original production, “A Necessary Conversation” about the aftermath of gun violence in school at Straz’ TECO Theatre in January 2018. All proceeds were donated to Moms Demand Action. After the Parkland shooting, she expanded the play to include youth voices. In 2021, the timely play about bullying, mental health and gun violence – winner of Broadway World’s 2018 Award for Best Actor and Best Actress – will be part of Powerstories Theatre’s season.
